SpongeBob SquarePants is the musical adaptation of Nickelodeon’s long-running animated children’s sitcom of the same name. We find ourselves in the undersea city of Bikini Bottom, inhabited by happy-go-lucky and ever-optimistic yellow sea sponge SpongeBob SquarePants and his equally quirky circle of friends and neighbors. SpongeBob’s pleasant existence is abruptly interrupted when it is discovered that Mt. Humongous, a nearby volcano, will erupt within the next 48 hours and completely obliterate Bikini Bottom. SpongeBob, trying to prove to himself and the world that he is not “just a simple sponge,” resolves to save the day when everybody else has given up all hope.

'After Ever After' is a crazy pantomime celebrating the hijinks of fairytale characters. Set in Camelot, all the good characters are living blissfully after ever after has concluded. Yet on the outskirts of town, within the walls of the rehab. centre for all the baddies, 'Dungeon', the plot to overtake Camelot has begun. This show was our first all ages show and a huge hit in Hedland.

'HiJACK!' marked HATch's inaugural company performance, following our formal launch in late 2020. This two night event was a showcase of a year's worth of work on theatre craft, improvisation, theatre sports, small ensemble performances, slam poetry, solo, duo and musical theatre numbers.

The 'Wizard of Odd' by South African playwright Claire Demmer was adapted by Elise Batchelor and the crew that brought Melted - a Musical to the Matt Dann Theatre stage. Featuring a cast of more than 60 performers aged 6 - 15, and a crew of myriad adults, this show took Dorothy's story to the vast PIlbara in WA.

'Melted - a Musical', iteration two, had a six show run at the Matt Dann Theatre with more than 120 cast members from Port Hedland. Supported by the Roy HIll Community Foundation and the Town of Port Hedland, this thrilling adventure of Frozen to the vast deserts of north west Western Australia and planted the seed for the beginnings of more musical theatre to come.

This little show is where everything started. Staged at St Cecilia's Catholic Primary School with a cast and crew represented by every student and teacher from Kindergarten to Year 6, Melted took the story of Frozen to the Pilbara. Written and directed by Elise Batchelor, and produced by Claire Wellbeloved, the school's 75th birthday event for parents and families piqued the interest of the Matt Dann Theatre's manager Brad Holder. Here it began.
